Pets are welcome in RVs at Splash RV Resort near Pensacola

Searching for pet friendly places to stay in Pensacola, FL? Splash RV Resort is out in Milton, a 27-minute I-10 drive from downtown Pensacola (23 miles), and we welcome pets in RVs, plus a select group of our cottages are pet-friendly too. A cottage stay with your pet carries a $200 pet fee, you can bring up to three pets, and there are dog parks plus a dog washing station right on the property.

Why does that matter so much around here? Dogs aren’t allowed on the sand at Navarre Beach, and on Pensacola Beach they’re limited to two designated lots. Knowing exactly where your dog CAN go makes the whole trip easier. Visit Pensacola’s dog-friendly guide puts it simply: “Pensacola is a dog lover’s paradise.” Below you’ll find the dog beaches, the off-leash parks, the trails, a few dog-friendly breweries and the stay options that work for you and your dog.

The short version for dog owners:

  • Splash RV Resort: pets in RVs and select cottages, plus on-site dog parks and a washing station
  • Pensacola Beach: dogs only at the dog beaches at lots 21.5 and 28.5, always on a leash
  • Navarre Beach: no pets on the sand or the pier, so head to Navarre Central Bark on the mainland
  • Gulf Breeze: two bark parks at Shoreline Park South (a City of Gulf Breeze dog license is required)
  • Gulf Islands National Seashore: leashed pets on trails, paths and park roads, never on the beaches

What makes a pet friendly place to stay near Pensacola worth booking?

A great pet friendly stay near Pensacola gives your dog real room, spells out the pet rules before you arrive and keeps dog-friendly parks within an easy drive. Splash RV Resort checks all three: full-hookup RV sites and select pet-friendly cottages, on-site dog parks with a washing station, clear leash and vaccination rules, and three public dog parks within roughly 27 to 40 minutes.

You’re far from the only one packing a leash. According to the American Pet Products Association, the 2025 National Pet Owners Survey counted 95 million U.S. households that own a pet. And in 2024, about 78% of American pet owners traveled with their pets, according to a GlobalVetLink survey cited by AAA.

These are the public spots we point dog owners to most, with the drive from the resort:

Where is the Pensacola dog beach?

Pensacola Beach has two dog beaches, both run by Escambia County: one by lot 21.5 toward the west end of the island and one by lot 28.5 toward the east end. Escambia County’s beach dog park page says pets are welcome at those two lots and that all other public beach areas and parks are off limits to pets.

To find them, the county describes the west location as the first parking lot past the last Gulf-side condominiums, at beach walkover 21E. The east location is the first parking lot past Portofino Island Resort, at walkover 28B. Both dog lots sit a ways down the island from the Casino Beach core, so add a few minutes to the usual Pensacola Beach drive.

Hours change with the season. Escambia County says the dog parks are open May 1 through Oct. 31 from 7 a.m. to sunset, and Nov. 1 through April 30 from sunrise to sunset. So for a winter visit, you can be out there with your pup the minute the sun comes up.

The rules are short and strict:

  • Every pet stays on a leash, and each dog needs proper tags on its leash or collar.
  • Clean up after your dog. Escambia County Animal Control officers cite violations.
  • Visit Pensacola Beach notes that the State of Florida requires a current rabies tag to be visible on all dogs.
  • Never leave your dog in the car. Visit Pensacola Beach warns that an owner whose pet is found unattended in a vehicle may face criminal charges.

Is the rest of Pensacola Beach dog-friendly? Not really. Visit Pensacola Beach says all other beaches and parks on the island are off limits, including Casino Beach. After Hurricane Isaias, Visit Pensacola’s storm update says the only public Pensacola Beach accesses still closed are a single Park East boardwalk, though its parking lot is open, plus the steps down into Santa Rosa Sound on Panferio, so check that page again before you load up the car.

Is Navarre Beach pet friendly?

Not on the sand. Santa Rosa County’s Navarre Beach rules say no pets are allowed on the beach, and the Navarre Beach Pier rules say the same thing for the pier. That’s a bummer, since Navarre Beach is a quick 25-minute drive from Splash, but there’s a good fallback on the mainland.

Navarre Central Bark, at 8840 High School Boulevard in Navarre, has a large dog park plus small dog parks for little guys. The county lists it as open dawn to dusk with no admission fee, and it’s about 27 minutes from Splash. It also isn’t on the list of 11 parks still closed in Santa Rosa County’s Oct. 22 storm update, which says all other parks are open for use.

Where can dogs run off-leash near Pensacola?

Your best off-leash bets near Pensacola are Bayview Park in Pensacola, the two bark parks at Shoreline Park South in Gulf Breeze and Navarre Central Bark, plus the dog parks inside Splash RV Resort. Bayview Park is about 33 minutes from Splash, and Gulf Breeze’s Shoreline Park South runs about 40.

Bayview Park, at 2001 East Lloyd Street, lists a dog park among its features. Visit Florida describes the Dog Beach at Bayview Park as “An acre of waterfront where dogs frolic.” Good news on storm recovery, too: the City of Pensacola’s Hurricane Isaias parks update, last updated Oct. 29, 2026, lists Bayview Park as open, along with the Roger Scott Dog Park.

Over in Gulf Breeze, the Shoreline South Bark Park is a fenced off-leash area inside Shoreline Park South, open sunrise to sunset every day. Next door, the Beachside Dog Park sits just east of the boat launch, with a buoy-marked area where dogs can swim off-leash, and the city says humans may swim in the water with their pups if they want to.

One catch for visitors: Gulf Breeze requires every dog in the off-leash area to be legally licensed in the City of Gulf Breeze, vaccinated and wearing a visible dog license. The city sells pet licenses at its rec center. At the Shoreline South Bark Park, handlers must be 18 or older and are limited to a maximum of two dogs.

Can dogs go to Gulf Islands National Seashore?

Yes, as long as they stay on a leash and off the sand. The National Park Service pet rules for Gulf Islands National Seashore welcome pets on trails, multi-use paths and park roads, on a leash no longer than six feet at all times.

Pets aren’t allowed on any park beach, gulf or bay side, or in water less than five feet deep in Florida, and they can’t go inside the forts or facilities such as pavilions, fishing and ferry piers and visitor centers. Follow those rules and the park invites you to become a B.A.R.K. Ranger ambassador, which is a fun one for the dog’s travel scrapbook.

The Naval Live Oaks Area in Gulf Breeze is about 36 minutes from Splash, and it reopened Oct. 26 after Hurricane Isaias, according to the park’s reopening announcement. Heads up if you’re thinking about Perdido Key: the Perdido Key Area page says no pets are allowed on the beach there either.

Which Pensacola breweries welcome dogs?

Downtown Pensacola, about 27 minutes from Splash, has a handful of breweries that say they welcome dogs outside. These three state it on their own websites:

  • Perfect Plain Brewing Co. on Garden Street says it finished its taproom “with an expansive, dog friendly patio facing historic Garden Street,” per its about page.
  • Pensacola Bay Brewery says in its FAQ that dogs can hang out under its patio and side courtyard as long as they’re on a leash, though they can’t come inside.
  • Gary’s Brewery & Biergarten, at 208 Newman Avenue, calls itself a “family-owned, dog-friendly microbrewery and taproom” with a 1.3-acre beer garden on its website.

Policies can change with the weather or a busy event night, so a quick call before you show up with your pup never hurts.

What’s the pet policy at Splash RV Resort?

At Splash RV Resort, pets are welcome right inside your RV, and a select number of our luxury cottages take pets for a $200 pet fee. The limit is three pets per cottage, wagon or RV site. Pets aren’t permitted in non-pet cottages, so mention your dog when you book.

The house rules are the ones good dog owners already follow. Pets stay leashed at all times, and they can’t be tied up unattended or left outside without supervision or overnight. They need to be current on vaccinations, and any pet that’s aggressive or unruly will be asked to leave. Quiet hours begin at 10 p.m. and end at 7 a.m., which your neighbors’ dogs appreciate as much as you do.

Can you bring your dog for a winter stay near Pensacola?

You sure can, and November is when the winter crowd starts arriving. From November through February, a monthly RV site starts at $1,299, the standard back-in rate. September through February, a 4-person cottage rents by the month for $2,399 and a 6-person cottage for $2,599, per our current specials. You can’t reserve a monthly stay online, so pick up the phone and dial (850) 600-8500, then ask about a pet-friendly cottage, since only some cottages take pets.

Driving down from up north? The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services says a pet entering Florida needs an Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection unless it’s privately owned and traveling with its owner, but it does need a current rabies vaccination if it’s 3 months of age or older. Toss the vaccination record in the glove box and you’re set.

The resort’s snowbird activity lineup kicks off Nov. 2. From Nov. 2 until March 8, 2027, the pools and lazy river switch to winter hours, opening at 10 a.m. and closing at dusk. All the pools are heated except the lazy river, which stays open year-round. More details on long stays live on our snowbird page.

What dog-friendly events are coming up near Pensacola?

Three costume-friendly dates are worth marking if your dog likes an audience:

  • Pensacola Winterfest Elf Parade, Nov. 27: Pensacola Winterfest is running a contest and Elf Parade group for “the best dressed and decorated dog in a stroller.”
  • Kids and Kritters Parade, Saturday, Jan. 23, 2027: this Pensacola Beach parade starts from the Casino Beach parking lot, and Pensacola Beach Mardi Gras says pets are $10 each, with cash and prizes for the top three Costumed Kritters.
  • 6th Annual Pensacola Paw-di Gras, Sunday, Jan. 24, 2027: Visit Pensacola’s event listing has it on Garden Street between Palafox and Tarragona streets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., benefiting the Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare.

Those last two land on back-to-back days, so one January weekend at Splash can cover both. Start planning the costume now!

Frequently asked questions

Can my dog go on Pensacola Beach?

Up to three per cottage, wagon or RV site. Every pet needs to stay leashed and be current on vaccinations.
