A survey of 4,000 campers published by The Dyrt in 2023 found that 14.8% of campers were veterans or active duty, compared with about 6.4% veterans in the overall U.S. population, and that group was 33.1% more likely to use an RV as their primary way to camp.
Do you need a military ID to stay here?

That’s the practical difference between booking here and booking one of the Navy MWR RV parks around NAS Pensacola and NAS Whiting Field. Those on-base and base-affiliated campgrounds require a DoD ID or qualifying military affiliation, which means civilian friends, adult grandkids, and travel buddies can’t book a site there at all.
They also fill up fast. Active duty members can reserve those military campgrounds up to a year in advance. If you’re piecing together a Veterans weekend trip in the fall, that combination of restricted eligibility and early booking is usually what sends people looking for an alternative. This is it, and you still get the military discount weekend.
Worth knowing: Florida veterans can add a free “Veteran” designation to a driver license at any FLHSMV service center with a DD-214, and the National Park Service offers a free lifetime pass for veterans and Gold Star families that covers entry at Fort Pickens and the rest of Gulf Islands National Seashore.
How far is it to NAS Pensacola and downtown?
The resort sits on Welcome Church Road in Milton (8500, to be exact), right off I-10, which puts the whole Pensacola area inside an easy morning drive. These are free flowing drive times, so add a real buffer on air show days when everybody arrives before sunrise.

That west gate number surprises people. The public entrance sits way down at the bottom of Blue Angel Parkway, well west of downtown, so it’s a longer run than the drive into Pensacola itself.

What else is happening that weekend?
Quite a lot, and it’s all within about an hour. The Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show runs Friday and Saturday, Nov 6-7, 2026 at NAS Pensacola. Gates open at 8 a.m., the flying program gets going near 9:30, and the Blue Angels themselves launch around 2 in the afternoon on both days. Admission and parking are free, though premium seating is sold separately. Civilians 18 and over need either a REAL ID driver license or a passport to get onto NAS Pensacola, so build the screening line into your morning. Downtown has its own draw the same weekend. The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival takes over Historic Seville Square Nov 6-8, 2026, no admission charge, open 9 to 5 both Friday and Saturday, then 9 to 4 to wrap up Sunday. The Pensacola Greek Festival runs the same three days at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on West Garden Street. Between an air show, an arts festival, and a plate of loukoumades, nobody’s going to be bored.
Where can you honor Veterans Day near Pensacola?
Veterans Day 2026 falls on Wednesday, Nov 11, which is a few days after the discount weekend. If you’re staying on through the week, a couple of places are worth the drive.
Veterans Memorial Plaza on Willing Street in Milton is the closest, about 11 minutes away. Santa Rosa County built it in 2004, and it holds bronze statues, a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a Wall of Tears, service and timeline panels, and roughly 8,000 commemorative bricks. In Pensacola, Veterans Memorial Park on South 10th Avenue is a city park built around Wall South, a half scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
The heavyweight is the National Naval Aviation Museum. Admission is free, doors are open daily from 9 in the morning until 4, and public base access through the west gate runs 9 until 3, again with a REAL ID or passport.
Local Veterans Day parades and ceremonies in Pensacola, Milton, Navarre, and Gulf Breeze are traditionally held each year, but 2026 dates and times usually aren’t posted until closer to the holiday. Check the City of Pensacola and Santa Rosa County sites the week before.

What should you pack for November?
Layers. Pensacola’s November normals from NOAA run an average high near 72°F and an average low around 51°F, with roughly 4.4 inches of rain for the month, and hurricane season officially ends Nov 30. Mornings at an 8 a.m. air show gate are genuinely chilly, then the afternoon turns pleasant.
Back at the resort, the family pool and the adults only pool are both heated year round, and the hot tub runs seasonally, starting a week past Labor Day and going until the week ahead of Memorial Day, so yes, it’s on in early November. The lazy river and water slides are here too, and you can see the whole setup on the water features page. Fair warning, the lazy river isn’t heated, so November swimming happens in the heated pools. Most folks in the fall spend their evenings at the fire pits anyway.
